Oh Senator Rubio forgive me. I am sure that as a child you were taunted by your peers by having your name continuously shouted out at the pool. The thing is you are loosing your center and you need to find it stat! Too many of us depend on it.
After working with seven other senators in the Gang of Eight to produce an immigration reform bill, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is now talking about ramping up the border security provisions of reform, a move aimed at persuading skeptical Republicans to back the bill.
Ramping up border security is a pandering move. It won’t make a difference in the long-term. Immigrant cross the border undocumented because we have a crappy system. Fix the system and you won’t have a problem.
Rubio has set out recently to win over fellow Republicans by proposing in interviews that Congress should set up a plan to secure the border, rather than the Department of Homeland Security, as the Senate bill currently mandates, Politico reported Monday. His comments echo fellow GOP senators Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, who want Congress to play a role in overseeing border security measures.
Just one teeny problem: Mexico. Securing the border from a non-hostile neighbor as if we are at war with them, bad idea. They might take it personally. So you don’t only have to worry about Latino voters being pissed off but a country joining in the hateration. Marco! Polo!
